Dental Emergencies and Pain Management
Teeth can be cracked, chipped, become loose, or be completely knocked out from accidents or trauma.
Sometimes the damage to the tooth/teeth can't be seen by the naked eye.
If left unchecked, the injury can significantly increase the risk of infection, decay, and loss of the tooth.
This is why it is always best to have teeth quickly assessed and treated by a dentist after injury.
In the event of dental pain — DO NOT place tablets (eg Panadol), ice or other foreign objects near the pain.
This can result in chemical burns or damage to surrounding soft tissue which will only add to the discomfort.
Dr.Matic and our friendly staff have managed countless dental emergencies.
Thirty years of clinical expereince and expertise is at your service.
We look forward to looking after you.

FEES will depend on what treatment options you choose. Costs are always discussed so you can make an informed, affordable choice. No surprises.

Dental Check - Ups
Dental Check-ups, help spot dental problems early, when treatment is likely to be simple and less expensive.
It is recommended that children have a check up every 6 months, as there is rapid change in their teeth as they move from their baby teeth to their adult teeth.
As a rule of thumb adults need a check up every 6 to 9 months, depending on the individual.
X-Rays are taken only when there is a clinical need to do so.
Gum health, in adults is also closely monitored and managed, particularly as we age. Gum disease leads to bone loss around teeth, which in turn leads to teeth becoming loose, and being lost.
The dentist also checks for cancers and other suspicious lesions during your check up.
Dr.Matic and our friendly staff have looked after the dental health of local families for 30 years.
Thirty years of clinical experience and expertise is at your service.
We look forward to looking after you and your family.
Oral Hygiene Instruction
Oral Hygiene Instructions Bacteria that live in the mouth also love the food we eat. They create harmful acids, plaque and tartar, that cause cavities and gum infections.
Brushing and flossing at home is the first line of defence to protect against tooth decay and gum infections.
Having and maintaining good oral hygiene is built on good brushing and flossing techniques.
Understanding how to brush and floss effectively, enables you to maintain good oral hygiene. Good oral hygiene in turn minimises the development of cavities, gum infections, bad breath, and gum disease.
It is important to understand that no matter how well we brush and floss, over time tartar and staining does build up and can only be removed with a professional scale and clean.

Dental Scale and Cleans
Bacteria that live in the mouth also love the food we eat.
They create harmful acids, plaque and tartar, that cause cavities and lead to gum infections.
Everyday activities like drinking coffee, tea, wine, and smoking stain teeth, over time.
Brushing and flossing help counter these effects, however, there are areas where the plaque, tartar, and some stains, are not removed.
A professional dental clean removes the tartar, and most of the shallow stains that brushing and flossing can't remove.
After a professional clean:
* Teeth are whiter and brighter
* Breath is fresh and odour free, and;
* Risk of developing cavities and gum infections is greatly reduced.
30 years of clinical experience and expertise is at your service.
We look forward to looking after you and your family.
Treatment of Gum Disease and Infections
Gingivitis — Early Stage Gum Disease
Bacteria that live in the mouth also love the food we eat.
They create harmful acids, plaque and tartar, that can lead to gum inflammation and infections.
A regular professional dental clean, and good at home brushing and flossing usually effectively controls gingivitis, and maintains good gum and oral health.
Periodontitis - Advanced Gum Disease
If left untreated, gingivitis develops into periodontitis.
Periodontitis is damage to the bone that supports the teeth. Over time teeth become loose, fall out or require removal.
Periodontal treatment can stop or slow down the bone loss to help you keep your teeth for as long as possible.
Dr. Matic and our staff have helped many individuals acheive and maintain good gum health - and in turn keep their natural teeth.
We look forward to helping you.
30 years of clinical experience and expertise is at your service.
Dental X-Rays
While your teeth and gums may look healthy, a dental X-ray can help the dentist find hidden problem areas.
They allow the dentist to see
* Between teeth
* Under fillings
* Under decay
* Around the roots of teeth, and
* Position of vital nerve and blood supply structures in the jaws
* Lesions in the jaw bones - to name a few.
Being able to identify hidden problems early - is a vital part of providing the high quality dental services you and your family deserve.
The earlier dental problems are identified and treated, the more likely it is that treatment will be simple and less expensive.
X-rays are also an important tool during certain procedures.
Our clinic is equipped with high quality digital x-ray imaging equipment for your convenience.
When interpreting your x-rays Dr. Matic brings 30 years of clinical experience and expertise to the task, to ensure you receive quality care.

Cosmetic Dentistry – Reshaping Existing Teeth
Bonding can be used successfully to create a beautiful smile.

The procedure requires one visit which involves:
- etching the tooth surface with a gel
- applying the adhesive bond
- applying a colour matched resin material to correct the defect
- shaping and setting — trimming and polishing.
Bonding can also be used as a temporary measure to improve the smile - if a more permanent treatment such as porcelain veneers or crowns are planned for a later stage.

As healing begins, the contours of the gums and jaws start to shrink. As this occurs it is normal for the immediate dentures to become loose.

We recommend relines three months after the immediate denture is inserted.

Denture Relines - Helping Dentures Fit Better
Denture Relines — Helping Dentures Fit Better Dentures should fit securely over the gums and ridges in the mouth so that you can chew food properly speak and smile confidently.
Dentures can become loose. If you have had an immediate denture, your gums and the ridges in the mouth will shrink as healing occurs.
Gums and ridges in the mouth also shrink as we get older. So dentures that have served you well for many years — will become loose over time.
Loose dentures may move when you speak, eat, and smile — and may create sore spots.
In many instances you do not need to have a new set of dentures.
A denture reline is an effective and affordable way to improve the fit of your existing dentures. This is done by changing the surface of the denture that is in contact with the gums and ridges in the mouth.
The relined denture fits tightly over the gums providing stability, improving functionality, and allowing you to speak and smile confidently again.
Dr. Matic and our staff have relined hundreds of dentures — over 30 years of clinical practice. We can help your dentures fit better too.

Tooth Extractions/ Removal
Keeping your natural teeth is your best dental health outcome. Your own tooth is usually stronger and more efficient for biting and chewing than any artificial alternative.
However there are circumstances where a tooth can't be saved, and the only way to relieve pain is to have the tooth pulled out.
Circumstances where a tooth can't be saved clinically include:
- trauma — where a tooth is damaged beyond restoration through a hit to the face or a fall
- dental decay — where a tooth has decayed beyond being able to be saved with a root canal treatment
- dental abscess — where there is infection around the roots of a tooth that can't be saved with a root canal treatment
- gum (periodontal) disease — where a tooth is very loose because of severe bone loss around the roots
We also respect your decision to have a tooth removed by choice.
Dr. Matic and our staff have provided affordable, gentle pain relief by way of removing a tooth for hundreds of individuals, over 30 years of clinical practice. We extend our expertise and experience to you in managing your tooth extraction.
Wisdom Teeth Management and Removal
Wisdom teeth are the last molars at the back of your jaws. They erupt some time in your late teens to your early twenties.
Sometimes there is not enough room for the wisdom teeth. Instead of coming through straight, they erupt at an angle.
This puts pressure on the adjacent tooth. Gums become inflamed and infected, causing pain and bad breath.
The wisdom tooth and the tooth next to it are difficult to keep clean, and often decay.
Rinsing with warm salty water (one teaspoon of salt with one cup of warm water) up to four times a day - may help reduce pain and improve your breath.
Do not place tablets, ice or anything hot, directly on the affected area — as these can cause chemical burns and additional trauma — only adding to your discomfort.
Dr. Matic and our staff have helped hundreds of individuals with an affordable, gentle service for the removal and management of their wisdom teeth. We are able to successfully remove wisdom teeth at our rooms in most instances.
If we are unable to remove them at our rooms — we will refer you to the appropriate health professional.
